Connected Caring Communities Team Visit Gie it Laldy!

The Cohesion team were out in force yesterday for our visit to Gie it Laldy in Kilmarnock where we had a lot of great conversations with people with dementia and their carers.  Centrestage was the venue for the weekly gathering where people get together to socialise and sing along to music performed live by the Centrestage Communities staff.  The amazing, positive atmosphere at Gie it Laldy meant that the team had a great afternoon and were even observed to be singing along to some of the better known tunes themselves.

As our Life Changes Trust project has progressed, we have been hearing more and more evidence of the positive effect on memory and wellbeing that music can have on people with dementia and given the wholehearted enthusiasm shown by everyone at Gie it Laldy, we can see that this is indeed the case.

Cohesion would like to thank the team at Gie it Laldy for allowing us to come along on the day and say a special thank you to the group for their openness and generosity in speaking to us.

Gie it Laldy aims to facilitate conversations and connections through musical themed memory activities and allows many more people living with dementia, carers, family members and participants to come together for companionship, entertainment and community in a positive and supportive setting.
